The collaborative effort of the Central Statistical Bureau
and the JSC "BaltMedia" has materialised into the third successive compact disc
on foreign trade in English language. This CD-ROM provides rather detailed overview of
Latvian export and import. For the first time goods are shown on
the 6-digit subgroup level of the Harmonised Commodity Description and Coding System
("the customs classification"). The value and volume of imported and exported
goods are given in US dollars and in tons, with commodity subgroups broken down by
country. The compact disc offers a possibility to see the export and import flows broken
down by 242 countries and 3461 commodity groups. The CD-ROM contains information on 3609
major Latvian exporters and importers whose export and import value in 1999 exceeded LVL
50000. The enterprises are systemised in alphabetical order according to the exported and
imported commodity groups, the kind of activity and country. The addresses, telephone and
fax numbers, e-mail addresses of the enterprises are also included.
Entire complex of tasks includes developing and design and further publishing.

Since 1996 BaltMedia JSC and Central Statistical Bureau of Latvia produce STATISTICAL
YEAR BOOK OF LATVIA. It contains information about geographical location, nature
resources, enviroment protection, demographic situation, culture, education, life rate
of population, public health service and other areas of social life in Latvia. This
yearbook contains the most important macroeconomical indicators, the review of foreign
trade, analysis of different economical activities and different kinds of private
property, it also includes the comparison with other countries. Entire complex of

| RIGA The Pearl of the Baltics |

This video guide takes the spectator to Riga and it`s
architectural, historical and cultural monuments with a special accent on Art Nouveau
architecture, Monument to Freedom as the national symbol and Old Riga: the Castle of Riga,
the Dom and St. Peter's church.
It offers to explore Riga's parks and the Zoo, to visit the Open Air museum and the Motor
Museum. The film also represents the Song Festival, one of the numerous old Latvian
traditions.
The commentary brings the information of the salient points in Riga's history and its
legends. Melodies by the popular Latvian composer R.Pauls provide a deep-felt musical
background.
This video film is the helpful planner before the trip and a wonderful souvenir for the
guests of Riga.

The first video travelogue about Latvia with a commentary on the
rich historical and cultural heritage of our country. Four regions are signed out -
Zemgale, Vidzeme, Latgale and Kurzeme. They differ in their geography, nature and places
of interest, as well as in their traditions. The film brings out the typical peculiarities
of each region. The film also takes the spectator to Jurmala and Riga, the capital of
Latvia, showing samples of Art Nouveau architecture, Latvian national symbols - Monument
of Freedom, the National Opera as well as the historic architecture in Old Riga.

| The Return of the Fire Bird |

Film - Ballet "Return of the Fire Bird" was produced by "MosFilm"
company. It is based on ballets of M.Fokin. It represents three pearls from the crown of
"Russian Seasons" : "Petrushka", "Fire Bird" and
"Shaherezada". Historically all these performances are associated with names of
famous russian composers and painters : Igor Stravinsky, Nicolay Rimsky-Korsakov, Benua,
Baksta and Golovin.
This film is a debut of Andris Liepa as a film director. All tasks including
digital processing of video, design and publishing. |
